Mindful Drinking
So, your Instagram feed has been overrun by “Dry January” posts? Same.
Mindful drinking seems to be the hottest trend right now and for good reason. It saves you money. You sleep better. You have clearer skin. The list goes on.
I mean think about it. We meditate. We do yoga. We drink green juice. We do all of these things that make us FEEL really GOOD, right.
And yet, come the end of a long work day or the start of a weekend we drink. One glass of wine turns into two turns into a bottle. In the face of how we care for ourselves otherwise, it’s hard to avoid how alcohol really makes us feel…not so great.
I love the idea of drinking less at parties you guys. When I do I feel more rested and motivated to exercise the next day. Plus, it saves me from bad decision making, both in choice and portion of my food.
But here's the thing, If I'm trying to drink less yet still have FUN while I am out with friends, I need a drink that makes me feel like I'm sipping something special. Don't get me wrong! I'll order my go-to cocktail: a margarita. But instead of ordering a 2nd or 3rd, I'll switch to a low sugar mocktail instead [sparkling water + flavored bitters].
